We don't believe in waste and are really proud to partner with Furnishing Futures, an incredible charity that creates healing homes for domestic abuse survivors. We sometimes end up with end-of-line prints and stationery that are in perfect condition and definitely too good to throw away.
Furnishing Futures create fully furnished, trauma-informed homes that give hope and dignity to women and children placed in empty social housing after escaping domestic abuse. They have a sustainable model that uses good quality products that could otherwise be destined for landfill, and create well designed, comfortable homes that support survivors’ safety and recovery.
Less than 2% of social housing tenancies come furnished, and the lack of support can be a significant barrier to victims escaping domestic abuse as they worry about how they will finance starting anew. The poor state of accommodation that comes with no flooring, no window coverings, furniture or appliances can also lead some survivors to feel they have no choice but to return to an unsafe environment, in order to meet their children’s and their basic needs.
This support helps survivors to break the cycle of abuse, reduces poverty, supports their safety and increases women and children’s physical and emotional wellbeing by creating safe havens where they can rebuild their lives in comfort.
