Collaboration: Johnsons Tiles

This project celebrates the heritage of the historical Minton Hollins collection, a pioneering collection of floor and wall tiles which emerged in 1845 and continued production up until 1962.

Johnson Tiles invited me to work with them to develop a modern take on this heritage collection; a range of tiles that would fit modern spaces with contemporary nod to the patterns, colours and forms of the historical tiles.

'Arrange' was developed as a range of mix and match tiles in a range of geometric forms and colours - designed to be played with, arranged and rearranged. The colour palette was derived from the original encaustic colours - powdery tones that feel almost chalky.

The collection, which was available through Parkside Tiles, was launched at London Design Festival 2019 has since been featured in domestic and commercial interiors across the UK and Europe.
